The work aims to be an artistic investigation about the impact of social media and the evolution of society on the world’s IQ. As noted from the early 2000s, the Flynn effect has a reversal of trend, thus moving from a constant growth of the world’s average IQ (observed by the anthropologist J.R. Flynn during the 20th century) to a constant decrease in the average intelligence of the population, starting from the beginning of the current century. The work therefore asks: will humans return to being apes? Can arrogance replace intelligence? How far can we blame society before turning towards our own image?
Alessia Damiani – composer, performer and multimedia artist. She has been musically active both as a performer and a composer in Italy, UK, USA, Mexico, Spain, Germany etc. Her Works have been performed, among others, in festivals such as NYCEMF – New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, MUSLAB Electroacoustic Music International Exhibition (Mexico), Mediagrammi (Berlin), etc. Furthermore M-Flute A/V Performance was selected in MA/IN Matera Intermedia Festival 2018, Teatri di Vetro and UKYA 2019 – UK Young Artists City Takeover (Nottingham). She actively collaborates with various personalities of the Italian and European panorama. In 2019 she also made sound design for an interactive solo exhibition in which the Maestro of photography and documentary Riccardo Truffarelli shows his forty years of career. From 2024 she deals with the coordination and direction of musical activities within the independent space for artistic research artQ13. As solo artist her focus is about repetition, aesthetics of error and finding an “other sense” through extemporary sounds. She was Sound Design Professor in Bari Academy of Fine Arts, in National Academy of Dramatic Art “Silvio d’Amico” in Rome. Now she is Professor of Electroacoustic Musical Composition at the “G. B. Pergolesi” Conservatory of Fermo. Vincenzo Ascione – video artist, VJ and independent sound designer who has chosen to showcase his work mainly through social media, preserving his freedom of expression. His creativity is expressed through the innovative use of different technologies, including reused and decommissioned analog circuits, brought back to life and heavily modified to manipulate audio and video content. He also uses extensively different software for creating and editing audio and video, as well as artificial intelligence (AI). The above-mentioned technologies are often overlapped and used simultaneously, both in real time and deferred, enriching the complexity and depth of his works. His main mode of expression is “Glitch Art”, which extends to both the video and audio worlds, although it is not limited to this form of expression. ARTIST WEBSITE
