A middle-aged high-ranking judge falls victim to a car accident. Alone at the side of the road, he is certain he is dying. What unfolds as a dialogue with death and with his entire life is revealing, both for him and for us. Hidden in a dark cave within the labyrinth of his self, the judge, for the first time, publicly discloses his hidden identity: He feels that he is a woman in a man’s body. In a monologue that becomes a new “place,” the judge, with courage and composure, narrates his hidden inner life, which for the first time takes flesh and bone. A small universe is built around him, from scattered and fragmentary phenomena that change the shape of the world as he knew it. Nothing would remind someone who knew him before that this person is the authoritarian, arrogant yet fair Judge Mont, who now calls himself MOB. In the second act, the Judge is ultimately saved, and after a stay in the hospital, he returns home to his wife and two children. But the judge has made a decision: from now on, he will live as a woman in a man’s body, fearing nothing; this is his true nature, and from now on, it will be his real life. The issue of gender identities, as a factor of control and manipulation of instincts, lies at the core of authority. I examine the subject mainly from the perspective of freedom of choice. If we are not allowed to follow the nature that gave birth to us, if our instincts are aligned with violence and our dark past, then societies build upon a nebulous area, “castles of cultural identities,” which, each time they collapse, poison human communication more and more. Everything is human. Everything is nature designing everything, whether with humans or without them.
