April 2020, lock down, I live alone, I investigate my confined identity, disguising myself, inventing costumes, covering up. I stand naked in front of a pile of clothes. I put on clothes and layer myself. Transformation through outfits, clothes, in order or put on random, second layers, third layers and so on. Inspired by Yoko Ono’s Cut piece.

BIO: Originally from the Netherlands, I crossed the Atlantic Ocean in 2005 to live and work in Montréal. I have a bachelor’s degree in visual arts and performance arts. I draw inspiration from universal themes such as heritage, family, democracy, war, and the politics of exclusion. I use a variety of media: performance, movement, monologue, object manipulation, improvisation, visual art. It is important to me to surprise myself in my process and to share this exciting feeling of the unexpected with the participants. Creating intimacy, garnering trust, and revealing the unsettling are critical to my practice. ARTIST’S WEBSITE
