A glimpse into the daily routine of a queer living in the remote Rocky Mountains

Peter Max Lawrence is an artist, filmmaker and poet. Born in Topeka; adopted soon thereafter and raised in Kansas City, Kansas. Over the course of his life, he has created a large and diverse body of work, exploring a wide variety of approaches, media and themes including intimate experimental documentary projects as well as cosmic world building narratives and historical queer memory constructivism. Lawrence’s visual art, performances and films have been presented internationally in venues ranging from basement bathrooms to major museums. Among some works of note are The Battle of the Last Goodbye, a massive installation composed of thousands of paintings, videos and sculptures situated among a collaborative two-person exhibition with Truong Tran at SOMArts, QUEER in KANSAS is his critically acclaimed short film that screened at several international film festivals and his Beyond Say Trilogy and expanded universe performances in Athens, Greece. Music videos directed by him include Carletta Sue Kay, Pookie and the Poodlez and Krystle Warren. He is currently rebuilding a small cabin and work studio on the wildfire burn scar property upon which his 30 year archive was incinerated in the 2018 Spring-Fire near La Veta Pass in Southern Colorado.
