“Hansel and Gretel got lost in the forest. There it was dark and also so bitterly cold …” – so begins the probably most famous children’s song about the eerie fairy tale story of the siblings Hansel and Gretel. Everything begins in great need, because the father is a poor woodcutter and there is not even enough bread for the whole family. The mother persuades her husband to abandon the children in the spooky forest, where dangers and secrets lurk.
The Puppet Theater Zwickau is a professional theater for children, young people, and adults. With 70 years of tradition, it is an integral part of the cultural offerings in Zwickau as well as the surrounding area and enjoys high attendance figures. Each season we develop 4 to 5 new productions, which are realized artistically and aesthetically with different forms of staging.
